Review of Physician's Formula Eye Booster Instant Lash Extension Kit Mascara

It's not very often something blows me away enough to consider it a Holy Grail item, but such is the case for Physician's Formula Eye Booster Instant Lash Extension Kit Mascara.  In fact, I love it so much I had to share my new obsession with all my readers.

Let me preface this by saying I am one of those unfortunate souls who has trouble finding a mascara that does not smear or smudge on her.  I was a devotee to waterproof mascara for many years and that worked okay but I found removing it at night was, shall we say, a nightmare.  Then I went on to using "tube" formula mascaras which are mascaras that form tubes around your lashes and in order to remove them you gently rub the "tubes" off with soap and water.  These worked decently but the problem was the particular type I used cost $20 and at the end of the day it wasn't impervious to smudging at times either.

That all changed when I found the Physician's Formula Eye Booster Instant Lash Extension Kit Mascara at my local drugstore.  I ran into CVS because I heard they were having a 40% off sale on all Physician's Formula cosmetics and I had heard good things about this mascara on YouTube and beauty blogs.  Its regular price was $14.99 and I purchased it for $8.99 on sale which was already a win compared to the $20 that I normally spend on my former mascara.

How this mascara works is it's a two part process where you coat your lashes with mascara, then you give them a good coat with the special fiber kit, coat it with mascara again, coat it with fibers, and so on and so forth until you build up your perfect false lashes look.  I can confirm this gives me lashes like no other!  Here are some before and after photos:

Pretty dramatic isn't it?  In this photo I applied one coat of mascara, one coat of fibers, a second coat of mascara, a second coat of fibers, and then I sealed it off with one final third coat of mascara.  I only have one very light coat of just the mascara on my bottom lashes.  The picture above was taken after my first time applying it and I realized that I can get the exact same effect with just one coat of mascara, one coat of fibers, and then a final coat of mascara which significantly speeds up the process and saves on product as well.  It seriously looked like I had on false lashes and I absolutely loved the finished look.

The wand has a slight curve which helps create a curved effect on your lashes as you are applying it.  Here's a close up of the wand:

And here's a close up of the fiber brush:

See all the little fibers?  Speaking of fibers, that's one caveat I thought of as I was using it...some fibers do get in your eyes.  In fact, they kind of get everywhere which isn't a big deal to me, nor did the fibers bother my eyes, but having worn contact lenses in the past it is very possible that the fibers could be a deal breaker for you if you wear contact lenses or have overly sensitive eyes so that's one thing to be aware of.

Unfortunately my test wasn't over as I had to see how it wore throughout the day because like I mentioned before, pretty much every non-waterproof (and even some waterproof) mascaras smudge on me.  I have worn this mascara a total of five times and I've never once had a smudge.  Not one single time.

In conclusion, if you like mascaras that give you seriously long and voluminous eyelashes that last all day long and a non-smudging formula that is easy to remove at night, then I would definitely give it a shot.  Almost every week there is some type of sale on Physician's Formula at CVS as well so if you're interested in it I would wait for a sale and pick one up asap!
