Total disaster! Here's what it looks like now:
The paint I used on the ceiling is a light yellow (the same shade I painted the basement stairwell walls and ceiling) called Popcorn and the wall color is called Glowing Reviews. Both shades are by Valspar.
I had to spray the entire room with knock down because the plaster walls were in really bad shape and mom didn't want to completely rip them out and replace them with drywall. They originally had fabric wallpaper on them and when I peeled it off the walls it took chunks of the wall with it which left a very uneven surface. This is when knock down truly shines as it is literally the quickest and easiest way to hide cracks and uneven surfaces.
Also the reason the one wall has new drywall is because we opened the doorway up to the kitchen a little bit more so when we put a refrigerator in there you won't be running directly into it as you walk into the kitchen.
Just for fun here's what the kitchen looked like originally:
This is what we have left to do in the kitchen before we can call it done:
- Lay linoleum on floor
- Set upper and lower cabinets into place
- Put up backsplash
- Install trim along floor and around new doorway
- Install new ceiling light fixture
- Purchase and install stove and refrigerator
- Paint and re-attach door to basement
- Scrape excess paint off windows
- Attach remaining faceplate covers
A Little Bit of Randomness:
- I'm seriously getting so excited working on this house. I've definitely been logging in some time and that explains why I miss a blog post every now and then. I try not to but when the flip house is calling my name I have to get my rear end over there and most times I'm so exhausted and dirty when I come home that I don't want to do much of anything else the rest of the night.
- Buster, what am I going to do with you? You make me look bad for the UPS guy when he leaves packages at my doorstep.
- I seriously cannot believe it's Friday already. Time is flying by and pretty soon taxes will be due. Hopefully I can find some extra time in the next week or so to do taxes so that I'm ahead of the ballgame and don't have to stress about it.
