Update at the Flip House Sept. 21, 2014

We are still somewhat at an idle state while working on the flip house as there is only so much we can do until the contractor comes in and hangs drywall.  We've been busy but nothing we have done lately is very exciting or noteworthy enough for me to take any photos so that's why there's been such a long lapse in between posts.  Here is a comprehensive list of what we've done:

  • Scraped loose paint off the walls, ceilings, and trim boards

  • Covered closet shelves in contact paper

  • Pulled off the metal tabs and wood pieces from the ceiling on the second floor that were holding up the ceiling tiles

  • Patched holes in the walls and sanded them

  • Re-plumbed the entire house

  • Scraped wallpaper from walls on basement stairwell

  • Pulled any random nails or screws out of the walls

  • Installed a new water heater

  • Ripped out the bathroom floor and installed new subfloor

The biggest thing that's been accomplished since the last update (and one I'm perhaps most proud of) is I insulated the bathroom walls.   I did it all by myself!  I've never done anything like that before and I actually enjoyed it.  It was kinda fun minus the itchiness of the fiberglass.  I only have a couple more sections to put up on the walls but I'm waiting for the plumbing to be run into the bathroom first before I can finish.  We also purchase a new tub and shower combo and have it set in place.  Wish I could post better pics but the bathroom is so narrow that this is the best I can do.

A Little Bit of Randomness:
  • I'm just getting over an allergy illness.  For a little over a week now I have been miserable with all the sneezing and having a constant runny nose.  I haven't had a cough except for the last few days but today my cough is almost non-existent now.  It hasn't helped that I've been hanging around the family farm and riding in the tractor during harvest time.
  • I need to get my Fall fireplace mantle underway.  I'm slacking.  Perhaps I will do that next after I post this blog?
  • I've been waiting to burn Fall candles until the first day of Fall but the problem is I can't smell very good right now because of my allergies.  I feel totally ripped off that I can't enjoy them yet because Fall candles are definitely my favorite ones of the whole year.
  • I've been loving Wendy's Asian Cashew Chicken Salad.  If you haven't tried one yet, you must.
  • For some reason whenever I make the bed and go to put on the fitted sheet I always grab the wrong corner.  Every.  Single.  Time.  I wish beds were square and not rectangular that way there is no short side or long side.  Gah!
