Review of Alba Botanica Even Advanced Sea Mineral Cleansing Gel

For today's post I'm going to be reviewing Alba Botanica Even Advanced Sea Mineral Cleansing Gel.  I've used up an entire bottle of it which allows me to give a complete and thorough review with regards to what I think about this cleanser.



Let's start with the price.  This retails for $11 and is 6 fl. oz.  It comes in a pump container which is my favorite type of dispenser, and the packaging is very sturdy and low maintenance.  At $11 this isn't the cheapest cleanser around, but I purchased mine for $6.99 off of Vitacost and I even got free shipping because my order was over $49 so I feel in that aspect it was a deal.

Now on to the product itself.  I'm on the picky side when it comes to purchasing skincare and cosmetics and have a couple stipulations an item has to meet before I buy it.  My number one stipulation is that the brand does not test on animals which Alba Botanica does not.  The second thing I look at is the ingredients to make sure the item does not contain parabens as studies have shown parabens to be present in cancer tumors.  Alba Botanica items do not contain parabens as they are a more natural based company.

At the time I purchased this cleanser it was toward the end of summer when my skin type is typically combination to oily.  During the winter it is more normal to dry so I was using this cleanser during the summer, fall, and winter.  It was perfect during the summer, but once my furnace kicked on in my house it was too drying for my skin so please be aware of that before purchasing. 

The smell was just okay and when it accidently would get in my mouth the taste was on the foul side.  I know what you're thinking....why does it matter about the smell and taste, it's not like you're supposed to eat it!  Maybe to most people it doesn't matter but when you've used something in the past like I have that both smelled good and didn't taste like a gym sock when you got a little in your mouth then these things do stand out to you as a drawback.  If you've never had a super pleasant cleanser before then this probably won't bother you.  Most importantly, however, is that it did a wonderful job of removing my makeup and cleaning my skin, especially in the summer months.

Final Thoughts:

I would definitely purchase this cleanser again as it was a good value for the price, but would probably only use it in the late spring, summer, and early fall months so as not to over dry my skin.
