Organizing Your Bathroom Toilet Lid

I think I am in the majority of Americans in saying my house is 75% finished.  But do homes ever really get completely finished?  To make it completely finished by my standards right now, which will change over time, I need to install a few pieces of floor trim in the living room and kitchen and paint the trim work.  I also need to paint the outside of the house which I will do when we get the flip house done and we are waiting for it to sell. Last on my list is to re-do the second bedroom and the bathrooms.

My house is a two bedroom two bath home but what the previous homeowner did was make the second bedroom smaller by adding a small bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower.  Since the second bedroom is now on the small side I put my closet it there.  Lets face it though, I would have put my closet there even if it weren't that small...who am I kidding?  I don't use the shower in the closet bathroom and rarely do I use the toilet.  I do use the sink every day though to wash my face and brush my teeth but that's just more of a "I have a second bathroom so I may as well use it" kind of a thing.

Basically what will happen is I'm going to knock down the wall between the two side by side bathrooms and make them into one larger bathroom.  Then I will move the wall of my closet over a couple feet so I gain a little more room in the second bedroom for more clothes, what else?

I will admit though the second bathroom gets neglected because 1) I don't like it and 2) I don't need it.  So what I'm finding myself doing is just throwing random things on the toilet lid and quite frankly it's looking a hot mess.  Here's what I'm talking about....

This room is Ugly with a capital U.  Since I redid my perfume storage the other day I had an empty black cabinet with a door that I used to store my fragrances in.  But what I found was I never reached for my perfumes because first I would have to open the door to my cabinet and really who can be bothered with that?  Okay that's my lazy self talking but really, when you are in a hurry to get out the door you don't really want to open a cabinet door and dig through to find a fragrance to wear.

So now I have an empty cabinet with nowhere to go and I thought I would put it on the back of my toilet to keep me from just throwing randomness on there and help me stay in check.  Just in case the first picture didn't scare you off here's a close up:

On this toilet I have a hair brush I rarely use, a hair clip, a roll of toilet paper because there is no toilet paper holder in here, two tubes of toothpaste because I like to switch it up so my teeth don't get bored, an electric razor, a bag to store my electric razor, a glass jar that holds cotton rounds to remove my nail polish, a charger plugged into the wall for my electric razor, and an empty deodorant container.  Yikes!

And here's what it looks like now.

So. Much. Better.  The two floral cup holders in the cabinet as well as one of those glass square containers I snag from Dollar Tree hold my feminine hygiene products for easy access.  I also put my cotton round container at the bottom and my roll of toilet paper in there.  It just looks so much better now and everything I used to help get me organized I already had at the house so this project cost me zero dollars!
